What Is Tooth Whitening?
Enamel is the layer of the tooth that is semi – translucent/clear. Underneath is dentine which is typically yellow, gray, brown or black. This dentine is what we see as our tooth colour. In order to whiten the dentine, a hydrogen peroxide solution is placed on the enamel in bleaching trays. The process opens the pores of the enamel, allowing the solution the reach the dentine and whitening the teeth. It is non-evasive and painless, the only side effect being, possible temporary sensitivity whilst using the bleaching solution.
